Financial Education Action Committee Meeting #6

Action Committees are partner-driven action-oriented meetings that focus on the details of creating systemic change in the neighborhood.

The action committee follows a continuous improvement process that will result in the implementation of evidence-based strategies, designed to eliminate financial education root causes, in Park Hill. Action committee members consist of individuals who Live, Learn, Work, Play, or Worship in Park Hill.

Through mid-April, the Financial Education Action Committee developed DRAFT scripts on budgeting, personal finance and savings, checking vs. check cashing, and credit and debit. These will be delivered via 3-5 minute videos online. We are asking for Park Hill high school seniors to help us review and revise the scripts and record the videos. Interested students should go here.

In previous meetings, the committee had reviewed several research-based strategies. After further discussion, the strategy that resonated the most was the "Train-the-Trainer" model where individual behavior can be changed through the influence of trusted individuals in the Park Hill community.

Prior to strategy implementation, the groundwork must be laid. During the meeting, the committee developed a rough timeline of action and are currently following the timeline to complete all pre-implementation tasks.

At the next meeting, the action committee will select training topics, develop the trainee recruitment plan, and will identify trainees. If you would like to join the action committee, please contact Daniel Archuleta at Daniel@dmcimpact.org or 720-580-0198. Our next meeting is Thursday, May 21, 2020, 2:00-3:30 PM, via Google Hangouts.
