#ParkHillTalks Online - Covid-19 - April 29
We host #ParkHillTalks in places that people feel comfortable to share their experiences and stories. These are often places that people already congregate regularly.
In response to COVID-19, we have had to find flexibility in reaching people at home using video conferencing to keep the conversation going. These talks are intended to provide a space for community members to be updated in real time, find resources, and ultimately continue to build community.
#ParkHillTalks have unofficially been occurring in places in the community and online for as long as the neighborhood has existed. Bringing the structure of community organizing to video conferencing helps provide the platform to turn the conversations to action.

Key topics
Self-Care
All of the attendees of this meeting were those looking to provide community support during this confusing time. We discussed our own mental health in the face of the pandemic and comforted each other.
Economics
We also discussed strategies for reaching our neighbors in need and shared stories of what people are experiencing in the community from an economic standpoint. Many of neighbors are experiencing increasing financial stress, but also do not know where to go or who to talk to about it.
Education
During the summer and the end of the stay-at-home orders, many children in the community will face challenges in their educational success by being forced to learn remotely. We discussed the desire to develop strategies to support families and fortify child development during these stressful times.
Outcomes
We agreed to participate in exploring and building a child development program to support families over the summer.
We agreed that conversations of support and love should be happening on a more consistent basis, as social distancing has put a strain on our lives.
We agreed to continue to reach out to the community to check in and make sure that we are being friends, first, and offering help, second.
