Financial Education Action Committee Meeting #5
Action Committees are partner-driven action-oriented meetings that focus on the details of creating systemic change in the neighborhood.
On April 2nd, the Financial Education Action Committee held its fifth meeting. The action committee follows a continuous improvement process that will result in the implementation of evidence-based strategies, designed to eliminate financial education root causes, in Park Hill. Action committee members consist of individuals who Live, Learn, Work, Play, or Worship in Park Hill.
Based on the evidence-based strategies identified in the previous meeting, attendees listed organizations who have experience developing and implementing the programs. PHCI was asked to contact those organizations to gather information and share it back with the group at the next meeting.
Most significantly, the current context of “stay-at-home” (COVID-19) and how it impacts the work was discussed. There was unanimous consent that the work is more important and urgent than ever before. In discussing the need for quickness in action, the idea for an online financial education resource hub, featuring 3-5 minute videos covering a variety of financial topics and delivered by trusted community leaders, should be explored. PHCI was asked to find partners who have existing training resources and who would be willing to share those resources as the foundation for content.
If you represent a partner organization who has financial education training resources and you are willing to share those resources with our Action Committee, please contact Daniel Archuleta at Daniel@ParkHillCI.org or 720-580-0198. Our next meeting is Thursday, April 9, 2020, 2:00-3:30 PM, via Google Hangouts.
