Community VoiceAll of our work starts with Community Voice. The community is the entire reason that DMCI exists. We seek to learn directly from the people that Live, Learn, Work, or Play in the neighborhoods experiencing issues with systemic oppression. To do this, we lean on leaders from within that have a knack for building relationships, listening to stories, and advocating for their neighbors. Through these leaders, we discover shared interests, issues impacting equity, and the desire for action and change. After talking with the community, a qualitative data set is created to express the experiences and issues that are shared amongst families in the neighborhood. That data set of the community’s voice is then fortified with quantitative neighborhood level data to make a business case to partner organizations, the philanthropic industry, elected officials, and whoever else is seeking to create positive change towards tearing down inequities. #ParkHillTalks#ParkHillTalks are small, conversational community meetings to cultivate change through the sharing of personal stories and the building of community. The Talks become a call to action that ignite our work. Below are some snapshots of DMCI’s Community Voice efforts:
